Iris View

There’s a certain predictability to how our Bhigwan trips begin.

We pack our bags almost instinctively.
Call Sandeep.
And head straight to the Flamingo Birding Point.

Except, like all things in the wild, predictability is an illusion.

This time, there were no flamingos.

And yet, nothing felt missing.

Because Bhigwan has a way of reminding you that if you arrive with openness instead of expectation, it will still give you more than you came for.

Dressed for the Season

Breeding season had quietly taken over the landscape.

There is something about birds in breeding plumage. A certain confidence. A quiet flamboyance. As if they know this is their moment.

Spoonbills, ibises, plovers… all wearing their finest.
Not for us. Never for us.
But for life itself.

Even the lapwings, always slightly dramatic, seemed to carry an extra sense of purpose.

And we stood there, watching, as if invited into a world that was unfolding regardless of our presence.

The Patient Ones

If Bhigwan teaches you anything, it is patience.

Herons stand still, almost meditative, eyes locked onto invisible movement beneath the water.

The Osprey sits like an apex observer, scanning, calculating, waiting for that one precise moment. The Brahminy kite, especially the juveniles hover between curiosity and instinct, watching the world, learning its rhythms.

And then there were us.

Waiting. Watching them wait.

There is something deeply humbling about that. To realise that in the hierarchy of the wild, we are merely spectators of patience we are yet to fully understand.

And the Dramas

Every now and then, stillness would break.

A sudden strike. A flash of wings. A successful catch. A mid-air fight for food.
A movement you sensed but couldn’t quite locate. A scavenger and an innocent life – all in the same frame!

Bhigwan doesn’t reveal everything.
And that is precisely its charm.

The Fine Print

Flamingos not included this time.
Magic, as always, was.

P.S: some cute videos coming soon on my You Tube channel. Stay tuned in 🙂

  1. Excellent pics and more Awesome copy !!! So simple and down to earth but still full of meaning … and the “deeply humbling” and “merely spectators of patience” are very apt and representative of such a masterfully crafted copy … your trademark 🏆
